2D Shapes with Chatterpix!

First graders are showing what they know about 2-dimensional shapes this week using iPads and the free app Chatterpix Kids! Chatterpix Kids lets you create a "mouth" on a photo and then record yourself talking to animate that object speaking with your voice.

Working on the script

Putting filters on the photo

Scripting, using complete sentences!

Working with rectangles!

First the students did a shape walk to find real-life examples of 2D shapes at our school. They used the iPad cameras to take photos of these shapes. Once the photos were complete, they wrote out a quick script of what the shape should say about itself. Then they imported their favorite photo, narrated their information, and then decorated their shape with the fun stickers included in the app.

The kids had TONS of fun creating this project! Can't wait to see the finished products!

Sight Word Photography by the Moonbeams!

Mrs. Miranda's kindergarten class is studying sight words, and decided to create a fun slideshow of photographs to help them become proficient at reading them!

The students created notecards with sight words on them, then photographed the words using their brand-new class digital camera. Mrs. Miranda then compiled the photographs into one Powerpoint presentation, which she then shared with the parents via Google Drive. The end result was both useful and adorable!

Here are a couple of snapshots from the presentation (although the best ones were the photos with smiling students in them!)

What a great way to combine literacy and technology!
